What Makes Us Soar
It's a Great Day to be a HAWK in Our Hayfield NEST!
10 Reasons Why Hayfield Hawks Soar
Hayfield Elementary is a vibrant and thriving community of eager learners from diverse backgrounds. Our students bring unique perspectives that enrich our academic environment and through collaboration we educate them to be innovative problem solvers. We encourage students to SOAR by teaching them to be resilient and goal-directed individuals while providing a supportive and safe learning environment. Our hawks thrive as they act responsibly and ethically within their global community.
All Feel Welcome
Our front office staff are the friendliest and most welcoming employees in all of FCPS. From the minute you step into Hayfield, you’ll feel the pride we take in bringing every community member into the Nest!
Diverse Experiences
Our library staff curates a collection of diverse viewpoints and experiences in our media center, and highlights a variety of cultures and concepts throughout the year.
Hayfield Welcomes Military Families
We are a Purple Star school! Situated next to Ft. Belvoir, Hayfield is privileged to have a large contingent of military families. Our dedicated military family liaison organizes social events for this group and encourages military members to speak about their work with our students on Veterans Day.
Community Shapes Our School Culture
Our PTA and administrators create lots of opportunities for parents and families to connect with the school. The PTA hosts free monthly events like movie nights and our famous Monster’s Ball, while the admin team welcomes parents with in-person and virtual chats each month.
Proud of Who We Are
Hayfield proudly celebrates all our cultures and communities. We make a point of decorating for cultural heritage months, and present student identities in artwork throughout the school. Our International Night celebration is second to none. Our students have the amazing opportunity to experience a world of cultures all in one place, and proudly represent their heritage in our Parade of Nations.
Connection is Key
Our PTA and administrators create lots of opportunities for parents and families to connect with the school. The PTA hosts free monthly events like movie nights and our famous Monster’s Ball, while the admin team welcomes parents with in-person and virtual chats each month.
Shared Values Create a Bond
The Hawks Pledge and our Equity Creed are present throughout the building, and bond all students and staff in our shared values.
We've Got Spirit, Yes We Do
School spirit events reinforce our sense of community and pride. We have frequent spirit days, multiple pep rallies throughout the year, and cherished traditions like Field Day and the end-of-year whole school celebration. Grade levels compete to show their spirit and claim the Hawks Pride Chain, a symbol of connectedness.
Inclusion
One visible sign of our commitment to inclusion is our sensory area. This grant-funded amenity provides a space for calming, regulation, and sensory stimulation.
